Pottery Reflection.
1. My final project was a series of pottery and the glazing of some already finished projects. They each took me about an hour to form on the pottery wheel, another hour to clean it up and another half hour to glaze.
2. The strong parts of the pottery are most likely the finished product, the glaze is really strong and proper, and the form of each is fantastic.
3. I could have done better in this project by getting more pieces done, and by getting a larger and more unique and elegant designs from each, I think this because they aren't the biggest and most impressive pieces I have done this year.
4. My theme in my pottery was a rustic and aged feel, I used glazes such as Buffalo Brown and Salt Bluff to get a real aged and antique feel from each of them.
5. The most important factors in the pottery is definetly form and color, the form protrayed by each is a sort of old world design and the color is not only aged and weathered looking but the glaze also gives it definition and texture.
6. The most obvious principles in pottery is pattern and balance, they all bilaterally even and both have a pattern in shape and in color, I feel that these are some of the most balanced pottery pieces I have done yet.
7. I learned from this the importance of taking your time, and persistance. I had many failed pieces due to rush and not taking my time, and I found that through persistance I succeeded with huge gratitude.
8. With pottery the design process is the same quite often, sit down think about what you want to make while you also think about how to execute it. Then sit down at the wheel and try and try again until you get exactly what you imagined.
9. The pottery for the most-part was planned, one turned out exactly how I wanted it but the other decided to break just as I was about to finish it. So the other piece ended up close to what I wanted but not quite what I was expecting.
10. This was definetly found that this was a worthwhile project, I felt that a bit of freedom let my imagination run wild, and I really got the chance to polish up my pottery skills.
